Forest Service Pass Fire “planning area” map

Overlaid with current fire perimeter map

The purple perimeter in this map is the Forest Service’s “planning area within which the fire would be allow to grow.” However, they were a major cause of the fire growth due to the utilization of aerial and ground firing operations. The pink area is the current actual fire area, as of July 14, 2023. The fire has almost extended to the planned purple perimeter, but not quite yet all the way.

The Forest Service planning area map was taken from the Gila National Forest Facebook page, and the current fire area map is from napsg.maps.arcgis.com
